Israel intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen to central Israel on Monday, Israelis officials said. Sirens were sounded in central Israeli city of Rishon LeZion,prompting citizens to hurry into bomb shelters

The military said sirens blared in central Israel and the Israeli Air Force intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen. The report said the missile used to target Eilat was a Burkan ballistic missile, and while its exact source was not made public, the Iran-backed Houthis who control northern Yemen have turned hostile toward Israel over the past year as well, frequently claiming to side with Palestinians.
